[Yeah, he's tagging along, if only because he... knows Namine's probably figured out who he is. And he wants to keep an eye on her for purely selfish reasons.
Also this is the first time he's actually set foot in Kaz' room? So he's not sure what to expect.]
[Naminé's been a very good kidnapping victim so far, at least for them - she's well aware that her chances of escape are slim in the first place, and since there wasn't really anyone around to assist on the way, she's actually been very quiet and still the whole time. It's only thanks to the colors of Hel that she's even sure what district they're in. So-- they're both in Hel's House, then? The information is hardly worth the trouble.]
[ It's a plain room since...Kaz doesn't really keep memorabilia or anything. And he likes cleanliness. There may be some clothes left out here and there and some...necklaces and tiaras left from January but all in all it's a clean-looking AND SMELLING place shut up ]
[ He'll drop his sack of spoils without much care but Namine he at least places down on the edge of his bed so she's sitting rather than...tossing her too ]
Alright, listen up--first off, mouth stays shut. I can make you bite off your own tongue and I will if you try callin' out or anything, understand?
[ffff you're such a girl. But lucky for Kaz, Vanitas' attention is wholly on Namine. And once he's inside, he'll close the door behind them and linger just inside.
He's staring straight at the blond through his helmet as Kaz speaks, though after he finishes Vanitas reaches up to take it off, and finally speaks.]
You're really gonna just let her go, after all she's seen? [Yes, he is playing good-cop-bad-cop, or in this case... good-kidnapper-bad-kidnapper, because it's more effective that way.]
[Being set down is a pretty awkward experience, but she moves as little as possible while it's happening. Once she's been let go, she slowly places her hands in her lap, head slightly bowed. Before, she was panicked, afraid - she still is, very much so, but there's something oddly closed off about her, now. Her worry and her fear still linger in her eyes, but it's like some part of her has withdrawn, as if this is something she's accepted. Her eyes find Kaz first, briefly, but she can see Vanitas behind him, and her gaze flickers his direction for just an instant, long enough for her to register that he appears to intend to stay. Just a hint more of that fear leaks into her expression, but she's quick to suppress it as she raises her head to watch Kaz as he speaks.]
[Many people might be angry, might lash out, but she sits as quietly as ever, listening as if waiting only for instruction rather than being threatened. The set of her shoulders is defensive, though, and her brow is tense but almost neutral. Too neutral, really. The order tugs her mouth into a little more of a frown, but she nods with only the slightest of hesitation. She understands (but she doesn't think she should say it, since he just ordered her to keep her mouth shut).]
[She definitely hasn't forgotten about Vanitas, despite her apparent focus on Kaz, and when Vanitas moves to take his helmet off, her eyes are instantly on him again. Her lips part slightly at his words, another spike of panic running through her that flashes much too briefly through her expression as she turns back to regard Kaz again, eyes slightly widened.]
Well I'm not about to eat her--I got enough of that hospital shit. [ Which is the only reason he could see why he'd ever actually hurt her to the point of serious injury. Offing her isn't something that comes as a solution to him, less because he feels any sympathy and more because he hates dealing with young people in general. Especially meek-looking ones like Namine--they just rub him the wrong way, so when Vanitas speaks he side-eyes him ]
If you want to kill her you're doin' it alone. And sure as heck the fuck away from here, I'm not getting involved in killin' brats.
[That makes Vanitas give a quietly incredulous 'tch', before he steps forward.]
Yeah, and your policies also change at the drop of a hat. [He's putting on a very convincing act--and well, really it's only half-way so, this would all be deadly serious if he was back home--but he hopes Kaz will be smart enough to catch on. Not that those hopes are... super high, though.]
But fine, stay here and keep your nose clean if you want. [And then, he moves swiftly over to the bed and makes another grab for Namine's arm at the elbow.]
[Eat her? What? Her confusion, however, takes a back seat to distress. She wasn't expecting much help from Kaz, truthfully, but that didn't stop her from hoping. Vanitas' comment might have otherwise served as a suggestion that she was in fact right about who hurt him, that one time, but she's entirely too distracted to give it much thought, especially when she sees Vanitas headed her way. She knows all too well how much trouble he caused back home, how many times he almost seriously hurt or killed someone. What's one more try?]
[In contrast to her earlier, more docile tendencies, when he reaches for her she shrinks away, arms coming inward as she twists the other direction. Resistance earlier seemed futile and only likely to get her hurt more than whatever else might happen, but if they're just going to kill her-- it's not that she suddenly she thinks she has a chance, she just doesn't want to die.]
[ YOU WERE RIGHT TO KEEP YOUR HOPES LOW crying Kaz is sort of blinking in surprise when Vanitas actually moves forward--he didn't think Vanitas would actually think about it since it means dragging Namine back through Hel and then outside in order to do away with her, and it also means that Kaz would know and be able to rat him out any time.
...If Vanitas is serious, but he isn't great at social cues. ]
[God, Kaz. You're useless. But Vanitas keeps the act up--he'll have to plan this out better next time, but now that he's rolling with it there's no stopping now. When Namine resists, he just makes a harder grab for her upper arm, and yanks her forward off the bed, head turning back towards Kaz to respond.]
Do I look like I'm kidding? If you're not feeling peckish, I know other ways.
[And here, he glances back to Namine out of the corner of his eye, because what he says next? He wants to be able to gauge her reaction to.]
[YEAH SHE THOUGHT SO thanks a lot, Kaz. She registers Kaz's comment despite being a bit distracted at the moment, but doesn't focus on it as she's hauled off of the bed, which makes her squeak quietly. The girl keeps her feet, though she does carry on away from Vanitas as much as possible, heels threatening to dig in. Her eyes squeezed shut when he reached for, but now they open, fearful yet still with a hint of that peculiar acceptance.]
[Does he look like he's kidding? No, not so much, and she knows because she's watching him carefully, eyes wide. Her mouth was open slightly before, but it shuts immediately when he mentions knowing 'other ways'. The comment about being Darkness provokes a response that is pathetically small in comparison; it's nothing more than a slight downturn to her lips and a hint more tension in her brow.]
[ Ugh ugh ugh this sits horribly with him Namine why couldn't you be two years older or at least look your age? He hates getting involved in this sort of thing so much. Other peoples' problems are not his problems and there's no reason for him to do anything for anyone else. ...Unless it benefits him in some way.
So he'll actually step in, grabbing Vanitas' wrist while looking at Namine. ]
[It's a small tell, but it sticks. That reaction isn't what he expected, but it says... enough on it's own for him to allow a tight smile in return, and a slight widening of his eyes.
You should've freaked out more, Namine. Because that look says you're involved. He doesn't know how, but now he'll be determined to find out.
--And then Kaz spoils the moment, by stepping in and touching him. His expression instantly blanks, and turns guardedly darker as he waits for her to respond. Fffff Kaz, he wants to just turn around and break your neck right now.]
[The look on Vanitas' face is... not a good sign, and even now, she realizes that. She's not sure what's happened to cause it, but she feels as though she's let slip something she shouldn't have, without even saying anything. Momentary confusion cuts through her anxiety, and for a second she almost has it--]
[Kaz's interference is unexpected but decidedly not unwelcome. She sees his hand on Vanitas' wrist first, the look on his face second, then she turns and blinks up at Kaz, a bit taken aback by the question. She half-opens her mouth to speak, hesitates, then almost glances at Vanitas but doesn't. She'd honestly rather keep as much about herself as possible to herself in front of both of these guys (especially the younger), but... can she really get out of answering that? The answer is probably a resounding 'no'.]
An' what's the best you can do? [ He knows Vanitas will be less than displeased but he's going to tighten his hold on him in warning anyway. He's less concerned about Namine and more with the self-proclaimed Darkness, so Vanitas gets the majority of his attention at this point. ]
the work radio is playing 'paint it black' as i type this tag. IT KNOWS.
[There's tension in his frame that wasn't there seconds ago, a rigidness that belies that something's suddenly changed. Vanitas isn't sure if he's acting anymore, because now he really does want to grab Namine and run away where Kaz can't interrupt, to interrogate her.
His voice is even harder now, when he interrupts.]
What does it matter? She needs to go.
[His hand tightens even further on her, and prepares to throw Kaz' hold off him at a moment's notice.]
[The best that she can do? Why...? But, of course, she's in no position to question Kaz or his methods. It's not as though she's got much choice in the matter. She's not entirely certain what the limit of her new powers is, truthfully - she knows that she's been getting better over time, but as for a true test of those abilities-- well,]
I--
[And then Vanitas is interrupting and her mouth immediately shuts. He's getting annoyed, she thinks, and she grimaces slightly at the uncomfortable squeeze of his hand on her arm. It's the kind of contact she's unpleasantly familiar with, the kind meant for control. She might have felt helpless in Asgard before, but this... this is certainly a throwback. Perhaps she's been spoiled, all this time.]
AHAHAH also zan tell me if I should change this sdkjgsjkd
[ And it's that tension, that readiness to act that makes Kaz decide his next course of action. He releases Vanitas' hand flippantly and back off a step with a snort. ]
Fine.
[ Except it's not fine, because as soon as he turns and makes like he's going to walk off he grins and slams as much body control as he can onto Vanitas and force his eyes shut the split-second before he turns and whips an arm around at the same time he draws his dagger from within his coat. He's not aiming to stab him though, and jabs the hilt into Vanitas' shoulder blade as hard as he can, grabbing his hair in the next second and yanking back. One leg comes up in the next instant and hits the back of one calf to take out Vanitas' right leg.
And if that all works the next thing he does is pull again on Vanitas' hair again to bare his neck so sink his fangs in with a hiss, holding his dagger against it to keep him from struggling.
YEAH VANITAS. YEAH. ]
1/2 LMFAO NO IT'S FINE; that's what he gets for being a creep
--Huh!! [Kaz is so, so lucky he's not expecting any of this. The attacks work like a charm--or almost, as Vanitas does manage to fight back a little. When that arm pulls around him, he slams his elbow back on a hair-trigger reaction, but it's not enough to avoid the next blow to his shoulder blade. That makes him hunch with another pained noise, lips pulled back from his teeth in a snarl, but before he can worry about breaking Kaz' hold his leg's crumpling outward.
In the struggle, he lets go of Namine's arm and reaches up to try to pry Kaz' arm off that way. But it all happens so fast, he doesn't even have time to think about using his own powers to get out of this, before he's getting bitten.]
Nno! [He knows what that means from last time, and after that eclaimation he garbles a curse at Kaz that's... pretty rude. Already though, he feels himself getting sleepy and lethargic...]
2/2 And this is my last tag for the thread until he has time to wake up o7
[Kaz's feigned withdrawal fools Naminé, too, just long enough for despair to make it through her and show slightly on her face, only-- the next second Kaz has got a knife and is on the move and she automatically squeezes her eyes shut with a yelp.]
[Except she discovers quickly enough that she wasn't the target and her eyes snap open again in time to see Vanitas get bitten. ... Bitten? Bitten, what--]
[Oh.]
[That's... what, apparently, and she presses her hands over her mouth, more than a little horrified at the sight of him as he loses consciousness. How--? Is he dead? Should she be glad, if he is?]
[Still visibly unsettled, she turns big blue eyes Kaz's way.]
[ He turns his gaze on her next, keeping his knife in hand even as he places a foot on Vanitas' back. Just in case. ]
Looks like an opportunity for you to show what you've got just opened up kid. Show me your power and heal this idiot--an' don't even think about clearing up the venom when you do it.
[Her already defensive posture becomes slightly more so when he turns to her again, and she closes her mouth a little more tightly. The order is at first a bit surprising, not only because he's telling her to heal someone he just injured himself - which, in a way, sort of makes sense, because it does at least prove her ability - but also because it confirms that Vanitas is, in fact, still alive.]
[... She'll withhold judgement on whether or not that's a good thing. Almost gingerly, she nods, as if afraid that nodding incorrectly would inspire his wrath. He doesn't have to worry about her messing with the venom; she's not even sure she can, but she's pretty sure she shouldn't. Just as cautiously, she lowers herself into a seated position next to Vanitas' slumped form, glancing up at Kaz to make sure she hasn't earned his disapproval before reaching toward the unconscious boy.]
Vanitas is going to leave a permanent stain on Kaz' bedroom floor, from where his throat was nicked by his daggar. He also had no real control over the way he landed, so his mouth's slightly open and... leaving a spot of drool as well. lakjsdlfkj so undignified DX]
[ He hates you too honey♥ Also he approves of how pathetic and hunger-sating you look right now so be glad you have truce with Kaz at the moment or there would be a lot less healing going on 8'| Because it's that that keeps Kaz standing where he is, watching with interest as Namine steps forward. He'll wait until she's done before he does anything--he wants to see how healing here works ]
