She's not entirely certain what the limit of her new powers is, truthfully - she knows that she's been getting better over time, but as for a true test of those abilities-- well,]

[And then Vanitas is interrupting and her mouth immediately shuts. He's getting annoyed, she thinks, and she grimaces slightly at the uncomfortable squeeze of his hand on her arm. It's the kind of contact she's unpleasantly familiar with, the kind meant for control. She might have felt helpless in Asgard before, but this... this is certainly a throwback. Perhaps she's been spoiled, all this time.]

[ And it's that tension, that readiness to act that makes Kaz decide his next course of action. He releases Vanitas' hand flippantly and back off a step with a snort. ]

Fine.

[ Except it's not fine, because as soon as he turns and makes like he's going to walk off he grins and slams as much body control as he can onto Vanitas and force his eyes shut the split-second before he turns and whips an arm around at the same time he draws his dagger from within his coat. He's not aiming to stab him though, and jabs the hilt into Vanitas' shoulder blade as hard as he can, grabbing his hair in the next second and yanking back. One leg comes up in the next instant and hits the back of one calf to take out Vanitas' right leg.

And if that all works the next thing he does is pull again on Vanitas' hair again to bare his neck so sink his fangs in with a hiss, holding his dagger against it to keep him from struggling.

YEAH VANITAS. YEAH. ]

--Huh!! [Kaz is so, so lucky he's not expecting any of this. The attacks work like a charm--or almost, as Vanitas does manage to fight back a little. When that arm pulls around him, he slams his elbow back on a hair-trigger reaction, but it's not enough to avoid the next blow to his shoulder blade. That makes him hunch with another pained noise, lips pulled back from his teeth in a snarl, but before he can worry about breaking Kaz' hold his leg's crumpling outward.

In the struggle, he lets go of Namine's arm and reaches up to try to pry Kaz' arm off that way. But it all happens so fast, he doesn't even have time to think about using his own powers to get out of this, before he's getting bitten.]

Nno! [He knows what that means from last time, and after that eclaimation he garbles a curse at Kaz that's... pretty rude. Already though, he feels himself getting sleepy and lethargic...]

[...and in the next few seconds he stops thrashing, eyes slipping closed as he slumps. Like a sack of something... darkness related.

He's going to be so pissed off when he wakes up.]

[Kaz's feigned withdrawal fools Naminé, too, just long enough for despair to make it through her and show slightly on her face, only-- the next second Kaz has got a knife and is on the move and she automatically squeezes her eyes shut with a yelp.]

[Except she discovers quickly enough that she wasn't the target and her eyes snap open again in time to see Vanitas get bitten. ... Bitten? Bitten, what--]

[Oh.]

[That's... what, apparently, and she presses her hands over her mouth, more than a little horrified at the sight of him as he loses consciousness. How--? Is he dead? ~~Should she be glad, if he is?~~]

[Still visibly unsettled, she turns big blue eyes Kaz's way.]

[ He turns his gaze on her next, keeping his knife in hand even as he places a foot on Vanitas' back. Just in case. ]

Looks like an opportunity for you to show what you've got just opened up kid. Show me your power and heal this idiot--an' don't even think about clearing up the venom when you do it.

[Her already defensive posture becomes slightly more so when he turns to her again, and she closes her mouth a little more tightly. The order is at first a bit surprising, not only because he's telling her to heal someone he just injured himself - which, in a way, sort of makes sense, because it does at least prove her ability - but also because it confirms that Vanitas is, in fact, still alive.]

[... She'll withhold judgement on whether or not that's a good thing. Almost gingerly, she nods, as if afraid that nodding incorrectly would inspire his wrath. He doesn't have to worry about her messing with the venom; she's not even sure she can, but she's pretty sure she shouldn't. Just as cautiously, she lowers herself into a seated position next to Vanitas' slumped form, glancing up at Kaz to make sure she hasn't earned his disapproval before reaching toward the unconscious boy.]

[HATREEEEED SO MUCH HATRED.

Vanitas is going to leave a permanent stain on Kaz' bedroom floor, from where his throat was nicked by his daggar. He also had no real control over the way he landed, so his mouth's slightly open and... leaving a spot of drool as well. lakjsdlfkj so undignified DX]

[ He hates you too honey♥ Also he approves of how pathetic and hunger-sating you look right now so be glad you have truce with Kaz at the moment or there would be a lot less healing going on 8'| Because it's that that keeps Kaz standing where he is, watching with interest as Namine steps forward. He'll wait until she's done before he does anything--he wants to see how healing here works ]

[Hm. How to go about this? It's awkward with him all slumped like that... and maybe she can't help feeling a little bad for him, seeing him like that, so, cautiously and actually very gently (especially for someone he just threatened to kill) she rolls Vanitas onto his back, if Kaz will allow her to, and-- oh, ew. Drool. That's... pretty gross, man. She's just going to... start to reach for the wounds, instead, pause, then quickly nudge his mouth closed with a finger under his jaw before returning both hands to hovering over the cut on his neck, first. It doesn't look too deep, so it shouldn't be too much trouble, and she gets to work with her power, closing up that particular injury quickly.]

[As for the bite, she peers down at it for a moment. Hm. She's never had to do something like that before, but it seems like a simple enough puncture wound...? Oh, well, better give it a shot.]

...It cost you anythin' to use that power? [ Since she seems to be working slow compared to the healers in his world and the others he's happened to witness in Asgard--but that could just be her. Maybe her power works a bit differently. ]

[She's distracted briefly from her work by the comment, but turns her eyes quickly back down to the closing marks, which seal up soon enough.]

... Energy, I guess. [Her hands linger over Vanitas' neck for a moment as she checks to make sure that the injury is really gone, then she withdraws them. She does look tired, since,] I've been doing this most of the day.

That why you're slow?

[She folds her hands on her lap, pausing.]

... I suppose so. [What counts as fast, for him? She's usually faster that that, what with all the practice she's been getting, but,] I am still learning.

If I stabbed him, could you save his life?

[She straightens, visibly distressed by that question.]

I--... no. Probably not-- not without help. I'm... not that good yet.

But you're gonna get better aren't you? From now on you'll work hard to make your power even stronger so you could do something like that no sweat.

[She's not certain she likes the implications of that, but, slowly, she nods.]

Yes. I'll do my very best. [It was always her goal from the beginning, after all.]

That's what I thought. An' I know you'll feel so grateful I didn't let Chuckles here do you in that you'll make nice an' sure to make it up to me. He doesn't play well with others after all. [ Which is more than an understatement, but she seemed frightened enough of him as it is. And the poison's not going to last forever, so he'll prompt Namine to stand with Body Control ]

Neither do I. So you're gonna forget you saw us anywhere near that place and keep that tiny mouth of yours shut. Understand? It's inconvenient for me to have you killed but even worse if you're gonna rat me out. Consider this your chance to do the right thing: do exactly what I say, when I say it. [ He'll take a step closer to her so he's looming over poor Namine, mismatched eyes focused intently on her ]

I can make people do whatever I want. If I want Vanitas to bite out his own tongue? It's gonna happen. So don't make me find out what I can make you do brat. Got it?

[There's already a frown pulling at her lips the moment he says the word 'feel'. The following words, of course, do absolutely nothing to alleviate the growing sense of dread creeping up her spine. Startled though she is by the feeling of her body standing of its own accord, she stays silent, eyes slightly wider.]

[Her eyebrows move toward each other a little more at each sentence, and she looks as though she feels a bit ill. She's not surprised that he's demanding she keep her mouth shut, not really, and not surprised by the rest of it, either, but hearing it isn't the same thing as anticipating it. Just how much more will he tell her to do, besides stay quiet about this? But really, there's no use in worrying about it. She leans back slightly to keep her eyes on him as he looms over her - and it's not a hard thing to do, though it's still intimidating.]

[And what can she do but nod? So she does, frown still firmly in place. Yeah, she's got it.]

I want to hear you say it--nodding isn't good enough.

[So much for keeping her mouth shut--]

[... She was hoping it wouldn't come to that. Her brow knits, and it's obvious she doesn't want to, but she's good enough at keeping her voice level when she says,]
